Raindrops & Roses and my favorite things

Obviously, I obsess about all things cooking. And I’m opinionated. Therefore, I give you my list of favorites (at the moment, anyway!) because this tends to be a favorite question (to ask and to answer!):

  • Cook’s Illustrated. Tells you why certain recipes work, and the bonus is that you get access to their equipment reviews so that you don’t waste your money on junk. https://www.cooksillustrated.com/

Online resource:

  • Epicurious — for recipe sources and reviews (for when you just *have* to make, say, a key lime pie and don’t know where to turn), and a free digital storehouse for their recipes as well as your own. https://www.epicurious.com/
  • Grove Collaborative – for products to help reduce waste (I’m from Boulder, folks) https://www.grove.co/home

Tips & Tricks

  • Put a wet dishcloth under your cutting board to give it a solid, non-skid base
  • Food prep (see earlier entry!)
  • Grocery Gadget app — to organize your shopping so you only have to do it once a week

Kitchen Tools Worth Their Weight:

This list is somewhat fluid — somewhat, because my enthusiasm for certain cookbooks changes; and somewhat not, because I will forever be devoted to certain workhorses (see: KitchenAid mixer). I’d love to hear about your favorites — please comment!

  1. I have loved browsing through your blogs… brings back sweet memories of cooking with you while at Clemson! You taught me to make Chicken Croissants and I still enjoy making them to this day…I occasionally add my own twists. I’m so glad you have found a new outlet for your obvious talent =)

    1. Aw, thanks, Pam! I do enjoy being creative in the kitchen, learning new things, and sharing it all on this blog 🙂
